Bear with me one moment.....

Forgive my whining people in the Midwest, but I have to vent.....
It has been very warm here in SoCal-in the 80s with radiant sun. The section of the clinic I work in has the full rath of the afternoon sun. Yesterday and today we have had NO AIR CONDITIONING as we have people "working on it." Not only am I dying, but my poor patients are really trying to work in this heat. Seriously, today, I was feeling light headed because it was so hot. Magically, at 4 pm, a worker came in and said that the AC was working the whole time.....our administration has just not TURNED IT ON! This, after multiple complaints by patients about the heat. Sometimes I think I work for a bunch of monkeys!
Anyway, no word on the house yet, despite the fact we were supposed hear by Tuesday at 5. We have not heard affirmative, negative, or anything in between. Needless to say, we are certainly not holding our breath....
Enjoy the rest of your week....

Nothing much new

We have had a calm and boring week here. We found out that we did not receive the house we offered on last week, which prompted us to place yet another offer on yet another house. On this particular one, it is a traditional sale, which is nice, as we will know by Tuesday night if we are able to negotiate something out. It sounds like we are the only interested buyers and the house has been on the market for quite some time, so hopefully they will be willing to negotiate a deal with us.
Saturday morning, we did a small hike in the Cleveland National forest east of us by Lake Elsinore, on the border of Riverside and Orange Counties. It was a short hour hike of a couple miles and next to little elevation (I think 350 feet). We would have liked to do a 10 mile hike, but figured we would not due imminent rain. It was a good thing we did just the small hike, as it was raining by the time we got home.
Last night we watched "Dumb and Dumber" on television, which I haven't seen in full for quite some time, and we really enjoyed that. This coming week promises to be sunny and fairly warm in the 70s, which will be nice. I am working 3 extra hours this week and 6 extra hours next week. I will be working extra hours through March, most likely, as my colleague will be taking a full fledged paternity leave of 8 total weeks. I am happy we are able to give him the time off and I don't mind working extra hours, as long as I know there is an end in sight =).
Have a good week everyone! Enjoy the last of February!

February Blossoms

As I write this post, it may not be as warm as it was last weekend, but I see several trees with white flower blossoms on them. It is so nice to see the blossoms in mid-February versus late April, which was the case back in the Midwest. It started out to be a really nice week, but we have experienced some high winds and cooler temperatures (in the mid 60s). It still has been sunny, which is always nice.
Tuesday, we were able to have a nice visit with my aunt and uncle from Minnesota. They are on a long road trip out west and decided to swing by and take us out to dinner. We had a nice visit and a very good meal.
Thursday, Valentine's Day, was a short day for me at work, as we ended at 3PM. Although I was mad about taking unnecessary vacation hours, it was nice to come home early. Nick brought flowers with him from work, which was a nice surprise. We had a meeting with our realtor to place an offer on another house, which we did. It is a short sale, which means that it is in the process of being foreclosed upon. We will not hear a definitive answer regarding our offer until at least the end of the month. Until then, we will continue looking at other possibilities.
We have had nothing planned for the weekend.
We had a nice lunch out yesterday and I made some cookies. I plan on doing some cleaning and bookwork later this afternoon. Nothing big is planned for the week ahead, but I am sure I will have some news to report next weekend.
Congratulations to Lisa who now is engaged to Brian and to Jason and Melissa, who will be having their first child this week.
Have a good week everyone!

Wow! A Stellar February weekend!

As I write this post, I am in my living room with all the windows open and sunlight streaming through the door. It has been a high of about 80 degrees today, making it a lovely day. We have had a few days of really warm temperatures, but rain is anticipated by the end of the week, with more seasonable temperatures in the 60s. It has been nice to have such nice weather. The trees are even starting to blossom and the Wal-Mart outdoor garden center is all ready for spring planting. I know it won't be long!
We have had a fairly uneventful week this past week. On Friday, we heard that our bid did not get accepted on the house we offered on, but we were expecting the news and we wern't too bummed. Our realtor has been outstanding and spent Friday previewing 25 homes for us and weeding out the dogs! Saturday morning we looked at 8 new houses and 1 house we had seen before. We have decided to place an offer on one, but we are not rushing on this one, as it has been on the market much longer than the other one. I anticipate us placing an offer sometime this week. It is a short sale, which means it may take even longer to receive a response (contrary to the name), but we are willing to play that game.
Perhaps the biggest event this week was our Super Tuesday primary voting. When we originally found out we would be voting at this time, we really didn't think CA would be in such a crucial role, but alas, so it was. We were a bit disappointed that Obama didn't do a bit better, but were happy that we were able to vote for him. It sounds like he is still staying competitive, which makes us hopeful.
This coming week, we are expecting a short visit from my aunt and uncle from Minnesota on Tuesday, who are on a West Coast road trip. Valentine's day is on Thursday, but nothing special is planned. Our clinic is closing at 3 PM, which I am not pleased about, as I will only have a half day in and will have to take vacation for the rest of the day. It will still be nice to look forward to something else! Have a good week everybody and happy Valentine's day!

A Rainy Superbowl Sunday

This past week has been a fairly calm one for us out here in Riverside. We have had fairly cool temperatures, in the low 60s, with partly cloudy days. Today we are getting quite a bit of rain, which is nice on a day that you have no plans for. We are watching the Superbowl with no team favored (in our minds), but we are definitely enjoying the commercials, as always. The past week has not been too exciting, with the exception of the return of "Lost." Hopefully, the writers strike will end soon, so that our other favorite shows will return.
On the house-hunt front, our realtor found a great listing for us in this neighborhood that is a bank repo. The price was really good, so I went to look at it on my lunch break on Thursday. I really liked it and then Nick and I looked at it again on Friday afternoon. After discussing it, we decided to submit an offer this afternoon. When we reached the office, our realtor had spoken with the listing agent and said there had already been a full-priced (we assume) offer on Friday. Regardless, we submitted an offer below the asking price, but we are sure nothing will come of it. We really liked the house, but it had a small yard, so I am sure that we will find something that is better suited for us.
This week we have nothing planned except a regular work week. The weather is supposed to improve to sunny days and temps in the high 60s, which will be nice. It sure doesn't take long to become a southern California wimp.
Happy Superbowl Sunday everyone!
