I'm so sorry...

that I haven't updated this blog! We are officially moved into our house and living amidst chaos! We have only the kitchen and master BR/bath unpacked, because our carpet will be installed soon! We can't have anything out on the walls or on furniture, so we're just waiting until they get that $J$H$(# carpet in! Then, I will be happy! Of course, I have been busy painting the hallway (still not finished-need to borrow a ladder) and doing all the baseboards. Still have a ways to go! We leave on Tuesday or Wednesday next week for our little vacation to see Amy and Aaron up in Fresno. It will be HOT HOT HOT! We will definitely have fun though! Nick has the next 2 weeks off and will be doing some projects around the house-probably tiling the master BR and maybe the kitchen. We also need to do the spare bath in the upstairs and install bamboo flooring in the living room and dining room. NOT TO EVEN MENTION THE YARD! But, it's too hot to think about that.
It's been blazing saddles hot here! Up and over 105 most of last week and this weekend! We're not used to this kind of heat until July/August/September! Usually, this time is known as "June Gloom" because of the cloudy mornings from the ocean! Not this year! This week is supposed to cool off down to the 90s, which is much more manageable! All that heat and we are still able to have our windows open because we're close enough to the ocean to get the sea breeze! That's nice!!!
Happy Midsummer's! (late!)

Kristi unplugged

This is the last post I'm going to do before our big move, as our internet is getting shut off tomorrow and we probably won't get internet and TV at the new house until Tuesday. We have been busy cleaning the new house and shuttling some stuff over there already. The living room is already pretty full. We got our carpet ordered and will be at the installer's after June 23. Hopefully, we will be able to get it installed before we go on vacation July 1. We had a busy and uneventful week here-just hot temperatures, but cool evenings and nights.
The worst news of the week, of course, is the Iowa flooding. Nick's sister and brother both live in Iowa City, but neither have been affected. It's nice to hear the updates on the news though. I also got the news that my partner in crime at work, Paul, will be leaving the clinic in mid-July to pursue another job at Loma Linda, which may even offer him some teaching opportunities, so it is a good move for him. I just cringe to think about training in a new PTA, because no one is going to be able to see 40 people a day as well as Paul does. I am hoping they will transfer one of the other current PTAs over to our side and get a new one for another area. We'll see! Lastly, we were simply shocked to hear about the death of Tim Russert. It is honestly the worst news I've heard in a long time. Of course, we do not know him personally, but being avid watchers of politics, we feel like we knew him well. At least he really lived out his last moments doing what he loved-preparing for the Sunday broadcast.
Have a good Father's Day weekend everyone and will blog again after the move!

The work continues...

Nothing much new here this week. We have continued to work on the house and to get it clean for us to move into. We will start moving things in this week with most of the large stuff going in on Saturday or Sunday. Our carpet will not be installed for another couple of weeks, but we are able to be patient and wait for it (this also gives us a little more time for painting.) Our appliances will be delivered tomorrow, which is also exciting. Today the jungle gym was dismantled and hauled off by Paul, a co-worker, who will take it to his house for his two kids. They will have a lot of fun on that, as it really has everything on it!
The only other thing that has happened this week is that I've been battling a moderate cold. I was at the doctor's on Wednesday, and asked for a strep test, just in case. It was negative, but they still gave my a z-pack script, which of course, I didn't fill. I have been able to catch up on my of my rest and am beginning to feel a little bit more like myself. I hope it continues, because I really don't have any more time to fight being sick.
I have only one more week of work before we have another full-time therapist on our team, which will be nice. My hours will also change to having only two late nights, which will be nice. We will be doing a "blitz" of evals on Thursday, as we have been booking people a month out (who are not ASAPs). It will be nice to catch up, but we will have a lot of paperwork!
Have a good week everyone!

Our house is beginning to show up!

We have had a busy week and weekend here in Riverside trying to "see" our house. It's taken a lot of work to get through all that crazy color, but I think we are finally getting somewhere! Friday night, we finished painting the master bedroom. Saturday, we painted the two front bedrooms in nice bright colors with some help from Josh and Erin (thanks guys!) Sunday, we finished edging out the first three bedrooms and Nick started work on his "man cave." I think we will have everything done that we want to have done in two weeks when we move in (June 15). Painting wise, we only have to do the stairwell and the hall (which should be interesting) and the master bath. Nick will also do another coat on the man cave and we would like to start some trim work on the existing baseboards.
In other house news, Nick put in a garbage disposal, which was desperately needed. The old one smelled like puke! We're so happy to have that in! We also purchased a lawn mower, that Nick used this morning. We were going to to get an electric mower, but broke down in the name of saving some money. Oh well. We also ordered our new carpet, which will probably be installed in about 3 weeks. It's a little slower than we would have liked, but I guess we should have ordered it last weekend. Oh well, furniture moving is included in the installation price. The only thing we need to do before we move in now is to put up a new ceiling fan in the master BR and possibly get a few new light fixtures (that look better than something from the 99cent store) in the hallway.
Other than all that house news, we have nothing new to report. We went out to eat on Saturday at CPK with Josh and Erin again to thank them for helping out with the paint. I worked a few extra hours this week, which turned into paperwork time because the patients didn't show up. I don't mind it when that happens, because I get paid a larger wage to work extra hours. This time, I didn't even have extra work. That's how I like it! No big news otherwise. We have had nice weather-not too hot yet and still cool at night. We're waiting for the summer ball to drop in July though!
Have a good week everyone!
